The Ultimate Phil Collins Tribute took place at The Limelight Club in Crewe, on Thursday, November 15 and Friday, November 16, 2001... and the world record was broken! Phildas started drumming at 06:17:18 Thursday morning, and finished at 23:14:50 on Friday night. The full time period, with allowances for breaks was calculated to be a phenomenal forty hours, fifty-seven minutes and thirty-two seconds - surpassing the previous record by almost 5 hours! In total, 463 songs were played - congratulations Phildas!

Although technical issues prevented the live broadcast of the event on the internet, the finale was filmed by BBC North West and was broadcast on Sunday, November 18. Also, most of the Friday night set performed by Invisible Touch was recorded, and the team will be reviewing the available options for this recording soon.

Thanks for your interest in this project, a major fundraising event for the BBC Children In Need Appeal. It will take place on Thursday, November 15 and Friday, November 16, 2001 at The Limelight Club in Crewe, Cheshire and will take the form of a 40-hour world record breaking "drumathon" where I, a drummer, will perform almost all the Genesis/Phil Collins repertoire, from Nursery Cryme to We Can't Dance and from Face Value to Dance Into The Light, including non-album tracks, and other Phil related tracks... twice!

The event will include two full gigs, the first will be performed with guest musicians from various UK Genesis and Phil Collins tribute bands, and the grand finale will consist of a 4-hour gig performed by my Genesis tribute band, Invisible Touch. The TUPCT team can now reveal that the vocalist for the opening gig will be none other than John Wilkinson, vocalist of top UK Phil Collins tribute band, Face Value! Welcome aboard John!

Phil Collins is too often underrated as a drummer, so this is my personal tribute to Phil, from one drummer to another. Phil as always championed many charitable causes so I thought the best way to pay homage to him was to do it in aid of a charity! Being concerned about the welfare of underpriviledged children, I chose to support the BBC Children In Need Appeal, hence this event.
